Yandex Disk for UpdraftPlus

Yandex Disk for UpdraftPlus backup storage add-on

Yandex Disk for UpdraftPlus lets you store your WordPress backups in your own Yandex Disk account. It adds Yandex Disk to UpdraftPlus’s storage options, keeping a backup copy away from your WordPress server.

Install and activate both plugins, then select Yandex Disk in the UpdraftPlus settings. Enter an account label, your OAuth access token and a backup folder, test the connection, and save your settings.

The plugin is free.
Just add it to your cart for free with us to download it. You’ll also need your own Yandex Disk account where your backups will be stored.

  1. Create a free account on amazingwpplugins.com and download the plugin.
  2. Install and activate UpdraftPlus and Yandex Disk for UpdraftPlus in WordPress.
  3. Sign in at Yandex OAuth and create an application for your WordPress backups. Under data access, give it the Yandex Disk REST API permissions to read and write the whole Disk.
  4. Get an OAuth access token for that application, as described in the Yandex Disk REST API documentation. Never use your Yandex password.
  5. In WordPress, open UpdraftPlus → Settings, select Yandex Disk, and enter:
    • Account label: any name that helps you recognise this connection.
    • OAuth access token: the token you just obtained.
    • Backup folder: a separate folder for your website, such as Backups/example.com.
  6. Click Test Yandex Disk Settings. It uploads, downloads and deletes a small test file. If successful, click Save Changes.
  7. Click Backup Now and enable sending the backup to remote storage. Confirm that it completes successfully.

Optional settings

Use date tags to organise backups automatically—for example, Backups/example.com/{year}/{month}/{date}. Supported tags are {date}, {year}, {month}, {day}, {hour}, and {minute}.

Set automatic backup schedules and retention in UpdraftPlus. When backups are deleted, the plugin also removes empty dated folders while preserving fixed parent folders and folders containing other files. Deleted files go to the Yandex Disk trash, which still uses account space until it is emptied.

The access token is not refreshed automatically. If it expires or is revoked, enter a new one in the UpdraftPlus settings. Before relying on scheduled backups, test restoring a backup on a separate WordPress installation.

FAQ

Is the plugin free?

Yes. Download it free with an amazingwpplugins.com account. You also need your own Yandex Disk account; storage-provider charges and limits are separate.

Do I need UpdraftPlus Premium?

No. The add-on works with UpdraftPlus Free. UpdraftPlus restrictions on selecting multiple destinations still apply.

How do I connect my account?

Create a Yandex OAuth application with Disk read and write permissions and obtain its OAuth access token using Yandex documentation. Select Yandex Disk in UpdraftPlus, enter an account label and the access token, then choose a site-specific backup folder. Do not enter your Yandex password.

Are there any account requirements?

A Yandex Disk account and a valid OAuth access token with Disk read/write permissions are required. This version uses an entered access token; it does not automatically refresh OAuth tokens. Replace expired or revoked tokens in settings.

Does it need extra server software?

No gateway or command-line software is required. The host needs 64-bit PHP with cURL and outbound HTTPS access.

Can I use dated backup folders?

Yes. Use {date}, {year}, {month}, {day}, {hour} and {minute}. Example: Backups/example.com/{year}/{month}/{date}. Retries use the archive date.

What happens when a backup is deleted?

Remote deletion removes the selected backup files. Empty generated folders are cleaned up afterwards; fixed parent folders and nonempty folders are preserved.

Can I restore from remote storage?

Yes. Use Restore in UpdraftPlus and choose the components to recover. Test a restore on a separate site before relying on scheduled backups.

Are transfers encrypted?

Yes. All connections to Yandex Disk use HTTPS. Uploads and restore downloads are also checked against Yandex Disk SHA-256 metadata. Deleted items are sent to the service trash, which can continue using account space.

Why is a backup retrying?

Archives stream directly to signed Yandex upload URLs without forwarding your OAuth header. Interrupted uploads restart. Account storage, upload/transfer limits, API throttling and hosting execution limits apply. Check the UpdraftPlus log for the actual reason.

Is this an official integration?

No. This is independent software from Amazing WP Plugins, not affiliated with or endorsed by Yandex Disk or TeamUpdraft.
